About Sky Design Concepts

Our Story

Sky Design Concepts has worked on commercial roofs in Phoenix since 1985. What started as a commercial skylight repair and replacement operation has grown into a full-scope contractor covering every stage of a roof opening’s life: repair and restoration on panels still worth saving, replacement and new installation when they’re not, and daylighting consulting for owners planning ahead of either.

Four decades in one climate teaches a crew things a newer contractor hasn’t seen yet. Arizona’s sun degrades fiberglass and Kalwall-type panels faster than most of the country, and its monsoon season tests every seal and seam on a roof each summer. That’s the environment Sky Design Concepts has built its commercial skylight services and skylight systems lineup around, not a generic playbook written for a milder market.

The company has stayed a skylight specialist rather than a general roofer that also does skylights. That distinction shows up in the inventory: smoke vents and roof hatches, fall protection and guards, translucent wall and roof panels, and glass flooring systems sit alongside the skylight work most contractors stop at.

Since 1985

Our Mission

To give every commercial building in the Southwest a daylighting system built for the climate it actually sits in, not a generic spec sheet written for somewhere else. We aim to be the contractor owners and GCs call first because we’ve already solved the problem their roof is facing, whether that’s a monsoon-damaged seal, a UV-degraded panel, or a new build that needs it done right the first time.

What We Do

0

Sky Design Concepts designs, repairs, replaces, and installs commercial skylights and daylighting systems for contractors, developers, school districts, and property owners across the Southwest. Our work covers the full lifecycle of a roof opening: on-site evaluations and repair for panels still worth saving, replacement and new installation when they’re not, skylight restoration and wet sealing, fall protection and guards, and daylighting consulting for owners planning ahead of either.

Our systems lineup spans fiberglass and Kalwall-type skylights, glass skylights, dome, unit, and polycarbonate skylights, tubular skylights, custom and monumental skylights, retractable and operable skylights, and canopies and walkways. Whether it’s a single repaired panel or a full daylighting retrofit, we handle it as skylight specialists, not a sideline add-on.

Credentials & Licensing

Sky Design Concepts is licensed to perform commercial skylight work in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, and travels to West Texas service areas including El Paso and Midland-Odessa. Arizona building owners and GCs can confirm the company’s license status directly through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, the state agency that licenses and regulates construction contractors.

The company is a factory-certified VELUX Commercial installer and represents Kingspan Light + Air, Sunoptics, Bilco, and American Skylights, and builds and services Acralight SkyArc systems. See the manufacturers page for the full product lineup by brand.

Why Choose Sky Design Concepts

Sky Design Concepts has built a reputation across Phoenix and the Southwest for honest inspections, quality craftsmanship, and daylighting solutions that last.

translucent wall panels
  • A specialist, not a sideline: Skylights, smoke vents, daylighting panels, and roof hatches are the entire business, not an add-on service bolted onto a general roofing crew.
  • Repair-first, not replace-first: Every job starts with a free on-site evaluation to find out whether a panel can be repaired or resealed before replacement even enters the conversation.
  • Brand-agnostic recommendations: We represent six manufacturer lines and service Kalwall-type panels we don’t sell new, so no building is turned away over brand, and no owner gets steered toward a product that isn’t the right fit.
  • Three-state licensing under one crew: Work is licensed in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico, so a multi-location GC or school district doesn’t need separate contractors per state.
  • Accountability over the long haul: We’ve worked through the repairs, the recalls, and the redos since 1985, and we stand behind our work long after the crew leaves the site.
  • Built for this climate specifically: Panel selection, sealant schedules, and fall protection all account for Arizona’s UV load and monsoon season rather than copying a spec sheet written for a cooler region.

Work With a Skylight Specialist, Not a Generalist

Choosing a contractor for a commercial roof opening means choosing who’s accountable for it long after the install, and a company that’s serviced Phoenix roofs since 1985 has already worked through the repair, the recall, and the redo that teach a crew what actually holds up under Arizona sun and monsoon rain.
