Sky Design Concepts represents a short, vetted list of commercial skylight manufacturers, including Kingspan Light + Air, VELUX Commercial, Sunoptics, Bilco, American Skylights, and Acralight, and matches each one to the building it actually fits rather than defaulting to a single brand across every job. Since 1985, we’ve worked exclusively on commercial and industrial roofs across Phoenix and the Southwest, and the manufacturer behind a skylight shapes every repair, reseal, and replacement decision that follows.

Commercial Skylight Manufacturers We Represent and Install

Sky Design Concepts carries factory certification across a short, vetted list of manufacturers rather than spreading thin across every brand on the market, which keeps parts sourcing and warranty support straightforward on every job.

Kingspan Light + Air is the daylighting group behind several brands that Sky Design Concepts represents: Bristolite Daylighting Systems, CPI Daylighting, Skyco Skylights, and Solatube International. Major Industries, another Kingspan brand, is being retired, but its name still appears on many older commercial roofs.

The group covers acrylic and polycarbonate domes, unit skylights, translucent wall and roof panels, and tubular daylighting devices. That range lets us stay with one manufacturer family on mixed roofs, where a warehouse may need domes over the floor and translucent panels along the wall. Because the group grew through acquisitions, older roofs often carry mixed products with different curb sizes, so we measure the opening before we order. We specify the Kingspan product that fits each opening, install it, and return to inspect and reseal it as it ages.

Sky Design Concepts is a factory-certified VELUX Commercial installer. VELUX Commercial supplies modular skylights and domes, including the Dynamic Dome and the traditional dome, for flat and low-slope commercial roofs.

Factory certification matters because the install details decide how long a skylight stays watertight. The curb height, the flashing laps, the sealant, and the glazing gasket all have to match the manufacturer’s instructions. We follow those instructions on every VELUX unit we set, and we inspect the same points when we service one. We also coordinate with the roofing contractor so the skylight flashing ties into the roof membrane without gaps.

Arizona’s heat cycles and UV exposure wear on seals and gaskets before they wear on the glazing itself, so a VELUX unit that looks sound from the roof can still leak at the curb. If you are replacing a failed skylight or adding daylight to a new roof, then see our commercial skylight installation process.

Sunoptics is a prismatic skylight manufacturer, and Sky Design Concepts represents it. A prismatic lens spreads incoming daylight across the floor instead of dropping it in a single bright patch, which cuts glare and hot spots under the skylight.

That makes Sunoptics a common choice for large, open interiors where workers and equipment move across the whole floor: warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing floors, and big-box retail. Evenly spread daylight also lets building owners turn off fixtures during daylight hours. Because prismatic units diffuse light, we also check the interior: racking height, shelving layout, and workstation locations all affect how much light the floor needs.

We size Sunoptics skylights to the roof, the interior use, and the amount of light the space needs. Our commercial skylight services team helps with that sizing. For application guidance, see warehouse and industrial skylights.

Bilco is our main source for roof hatches and UL-listed smoke vents. A roof hatch gives maintenance crews safe access to the roof. A smoke vent opens automatically in a fire to release heat and smoke from the building.

Most automatic smoke vents release through a fusible link, a small component that melts at a set temperature and lets the vent open. Smoke vents do not last forever; they typically need replacement after roughly 20 years, and a vent that has not been inspected may not open when it must. We inspect the link, the hinges, the gasket, and the curb, and we replace any part that fails. We schedule inspections so replacements happen before a failure, and we document the condition of each vent for your records.

Roof access points are also fall hazards. We pair Bilco hatches with skylight fall protection and guards where OSHA fall protection requirements for skylights apply. See our smoke vents and roof hatches page for models, applications, and replacement guidance.

Sky Design Concepts represents American Skylights for dome, polycarbonate, and unit skylight projects. These are common products for standard-size openings: a self-flashing unit set on a curb, glazed in acrylic or polycarbonate.

The glazing choice is the first decision. Acrylic domes transmit light well and cost less. Polycarbonate resists impact better, which matters over parking lots, school grounds, and any roof where hail or thrown objects are a risk. We walk through that choice during the evaluation so the unit matches the building and the budget. Curbs on older roofs often do not match a new unit’s footprint, so we measure the opening before we order.

We handle commercial skylight installation of American Skylights units on new roofs and commercial skylight replacement for failed domes. When a replacement requires a new curb or new flashing, we price that work with the unit instead of leaving it for a second visit.

Sky Design Concepts installs and services Acralight skylights, including Acralight Solar products and the SkyArc line. Acralight comes up most on projects where a catalog dome or unit does not fit the opening or the design.

Custom work starts with the opening itself: the span, the curb or frame, the structure beneath it, and the amount of light the room needs. We field-measure the roof, coordinate shop drawings with the manufacturer, and install the finished skylight with flashing and sealant matched to the roof system.

Phoenix roofs add one more requirement. Skylights here take intense sun for most of the year, so we check the glazing, the seals, and the roof tie-in during each service visit. If you already have an Acralight skylight that leaks, we start with a free on-site evaluation to decide whether skylight restoration and wet sealing or commercial skylight replacement is the right fix. Custom skylights also take longer to fabricate than stock units, so we confirm lead times with you before you commit. See our custom and monumental skylights page for design options.

Solar Industries manufactures smoke vents and roof hatches, and it is the second brand we name beside Bilco for roof-opening work. If your building already has Solar Industries vents, we inspect the fusible links, test the release, check the gaskets, and replace any vent that has reached the end of its service life. The NFPA 204 standard for smoke and heat venting covers how venting systems are designed, inspected, and maintained. Our smoke vents and roof hatches page explains how UL-listed vents work and when to replace them.

Glass Flooring Systems manufactures walkable architectural glass floors engineered to carry foot traffic, and in some installations, vehicle loads, while still transmitting light to the level below. A glass floor is structural glass set into a floor opening rather than a roof, which suits atriums, mezzanines, museum walkways, and retail lobbies where a client wants daylight to reach a lower or below-grade space. This is a separate product line from a glass skylight, which sets glazing into a roof opening instead.

Sky Design Concepts works with Glass Flooring Systems’ engineering specifications directly, matching panel thickness and support framing to each project’s expected span and traffic, and often installs glass flooring alongside a custom or monumental skylight system above it so daylight carries through multiple levels of a building.

Why the Manufacturer Matters on a Commercial Roof

The manufacturer decides which glazing, curb, flashing, and replacement parts a commercial skylight uses. That is why the brand on your roof shapes every repair, reseal, and replacement decision that follows.

As a commercial skylight contractor in Phoenix, Sky Design Concepts has worked only on commercial and industrial roofs since 1985. We work on warehouse and industrial buildings, schools and education facilities, retail centers, and municipal buildings. A warehouse roof and a school gymnasium rarely call for the same product line, so we work with several manufacturers and match each opening to the unit that fits it.

Below, we introduce each manufacturer we represent or install, and explain what each line does best. If you know the brand, jump to its section. If you only know the problem, such as a leaking dome or a yellowed panel, start with commercial skylight repair or read how to tell whether to repair, restore, or replace. To compare product types before brands, browse our skylight systems and the full list of commercial skylight services.

We choose the manufacturer after we see the roof, not before. Every project follows the same five steps.

  1. Free on-site evaluation: We inspect the curbs, glazing, flashing, seals, and any roof openings, and we photograph what we find.
  2. Identify the existing product: We read the nameplates, glazing stamps, and curb details to name the manufacturer and model. Older units often carry brands that have since been acquired or retired.
  3. Decide repair, reseal, or replace: A skylight with sound glazing and a failed seal needs restoration and wet sealing, not a new unit. A yellowed, cracked, or delaminated panel usually needs commercial skylight replacement.
  4. Select the product line: We compare light transmission, venting, smoke relief, fall protection, and budget against what each manufacturer makes.
  5. Install, seal, and verify: We handle commercial skylight installation by setting the unit, flashing the curb, sealing the joints, and checking for leaks before we leave the roof.

Different projects call for different manufacturer strengths, so we match the brand to the building rather than defaulting to one line across every job. Here’s which manufacturers we typically compare for each type of project.

  • Dome, Unit & Polycarbonate Skylights: We compare Kingspan Light + Air, VELUX Commercial, American Skylights, and Acralight.
  • Warehouse & Industrial Skylights: We compare Sunoptics and Kingspan Light + Air for even daylight across large spans.
  • Tubular Skylights: We work with Kingspan Light + Air’s Solatube line.
  • Smoke Vents & Roof Hatches: We compare Bilco and Solar Industries.
  • Translucent Wall & Roof Assemblies: We work with Kingspan Light + Air’s CPI Daylighting products.
  • Custom & Monumental Skylights: We work with Acralight.
  • Glass Flooring Systems: We work with Glass Flooring Systems for walkable, light-transmitting floors.

Prefer to start with the product type instead? Browse glass skylights, retractable and operable skylights, and canopies and walkways, or compare every option on our skylight systems page.

We offer commercial skylight repair and  replacement for Kalwall-type fiberglass translucent panels, but we are not a Kalwall representative. These panels are common on older school and education facilities, gymnasiums, and industrial buildings. Over time, Arizona sun breaks down the outer resin and exposes the glass fibers, a failure called fiberbloom, and the panel yellows and loses light transmission.

When a panel reaches that stage, we replace it with a compatible translucent wall or roof assembly. Our fiberglass and Kalwall-type skylights page explains how to spot the failure and what replacement involves.

Your roof may carry a brand that is not named on this page. Send us a photo of the nameplate or the curb, or ask for an evaluation, and we will identify the manufacturer and tell you what we can repair, reseal, or replace.

Why Choose Sky Design Concepts

Sky Design Concepts has built a reputation across Phoenix and the Southwest for honest inspections, quality craftsmanship, and daylighting solutions that last.

  • Commercial only: We do not take residential work, so every crew, material order, and safety plan is built around commercial roofs.
  • Several manufacturers, one contractor: We represent five manufacturers and install and service others, so we recommend the unit that fits the roof, not the one we happen to stock.
  • Licensed in three states: We hold licenses in Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. You can verify any Arizona contractor’s license through the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
  • Since 1985: We have worked on Arizona commercial roofs for decades, and we know how local heat and UV exposure age each glazing type.
  • Free on-site evaluation before any work: Every project starts with an honest inspection and a written scope, so a building owner knows what’s actually needed before committing to repair, restoration, or replacement.
  • Warranty coverage at four levels: Manufacturer, glazing, finish, and our own labor, with factory warranties running 10 to 20 years depending on the product line.
